A Look At 2025 (over a month later…)

What happened in 2025?

A lot of things happened in 2025, and there were moments of me being a run down busy bee with no time to herself. Nonetheless, I would say that the following were SOME highlights of 2025. I will give 12 since there are 12 months in a year (these are not in any specific order though).

Started a new job

In January of 2025, I started a new job that began my career in e-discovery. If you asked me in college what I would be doing - there would be 0% chance I would say e-discovery because I did not even know what it was. However, throughout the year, I was able to continuously learn about this new topic that seemed to only get more interesting as time went on.

Went on my first real date.

Although nothing happened with this person and I somehow met them through facebook - it was still a great first experience. And they paid! That was my first date and last date that I will ever do through facebook dating (or any website for that matter). Online dating is just not for me - and I was able to learn that about myself.

My first day-long meditation retreat.

It was relaxing and introspective. I also met new people and got to spend all day basically doing nothing and listening to monks. What more could I ask for?

My first solo trip - Spain!

There was so much that went wrong but so much more that went right! It went well for a rookie solo-traveler like me. I learned more about managing my energy levels, things I need to pack before a hostel stay, how far in advance to book things, and so much more. Now I can make my next solo trip much better than the first ;).

Pole danced for a month.

It was on my bucket list, and I did it. Not once, not twice, but for a whole month! Pole dancing is tiring but fun. I would continue it - but it is quite expensive and I don’t get paid enough to keep up consistently. I was starting to feel a lot stronger though :)

Participated in a k-pop competition - Ultimate Showcase.

I did this several times before, but this one in particular was very memorable because of all the challenges that came up during it’s preparation. People dropping, me still in the beginning stages of my hectic job, injuries. But it was a bonding experience with several of my friends that I still talk to today!

Performed at Otakon and cosplayed Lain from Serial Experiments Lain.

The wig was atrocious and gave me a headache throughout the day, but the performance was fun!

Performed at KORUS festival in Annandale, VA

And that same day, we filmed In Your Fantasy by Ateez in the morning. It was such a hectic day but I got to see some people I hadn’t seen in years so it was fun.

Performed a Burmese dance at a Burmese Festival in Ellicot City

Before the preparations of this performance, I did not know much about the Myanmar war - but being able to participate in this fundraiser event, talk to new faces, model traditional clothing, and also enjoy Burmese food for the first time was probably the most memorable experience that year besides Ultimate Showcase and the solo Spain trip.

Hiking moments - lost in the woods, hiked with a friend and strangers!

One hiking trip (Great Falls), I got lost in the woods by myself for an hour. I almost thought I would need to pee in the woods.

Another hiking trip (Rock Creek Park, DC), was my first time going with a friend on a hike. Enjoyable experience with some amazing Thai food afterwards.

Baked Bread for the first time

I made no-knead bread once and ever since then I have been making bread at least twice a month. It is so much better than store-brought bread! It is worth the effort. But also, now I have been suspicious about why store whole-wheat bread is not dark brown like my home-made whole wheat bread…

Went to Dallas, Texas for the first time

My sister left me for better taxes \j.
I went to visit her, my brother in law, and my lovely niece.
I haven’t gone downtown yet, but I must say - next time I need to go when it is fall or early spring. It was way too hot. I was running outside and nearly died! Haha.

Welcoming 2026.

There were several more highlights of 2025 - but they were more personal and between friends :). I went to a few parties, concerts, and k-pop nights - but nothing else super spectacular!

Why this post is 1.5 months late…

If it is at all possible that someone was paying attention to my previous blog - you will notice that I have shifted away from Hugo blog and am now on Blogger. I just needed something more convenient and less time consuming that required pushing to a Github repo. I was so over it because the extra steps made me not want to write or make updates.

Sure - I could try posting on Instagram. However, I still don’t really like Instagram at all. Here, I can truly let loose. It’s my own blog and not someone else’s feed.

Additionally, my January was very busy and I never got a chance to sit down and reflect. Today is President’s Day and although I really need to give my microlocs a retie - I decided that now is the perfect chance to restart my blog fresh and new with an easier workflow, new branding, and a more intuitive purpose. It may be the middle of February - but it is never too late to start something new! In my head, this is still Quarter 1 of the year ;)

Now cheers to 2025 and hello 2026!

Twice Concert Experience (Nosebleeds 👀)

Location: Capital One Arena, DC Date: February 13, 2026 Rating: 8.5/10 -> Great energy as per usual and the formations on a stage where they can face all sides were very thought out. I can tell that they put absolute effort into making sure that every fan would be able to see them from every angle. This is very much appreciated for us money-concious folks out there! Now, I am super money conscious right now since I don't make that much money - so I was in the SUPER NOSEBLEEDS.  However, it was still a nice view of the stage and the seats were comfy enough. Just know, that if you sit in the nosebleeds - you can't really get any good videos or pictures (unless you have like, the latest iPhone or a real camera with you) because of the lights they shine on the stage. Just look at this nosebleed recording I took of Can't Stop Me for reference. Not sure why it didn't record in landscape mode though... A bad video of I Can't Stop Me in Capital On...

Learning to Love Failure

Recently I failed at something big (or maybe, something that I  made  big). This was an exam that would have brought me maybe 15% closer to financial independence. After the exam I felt like dead weight. As I traveled back to my mother’s home - where I still live at the age of 24 - I was able to successfully set my mind on a new perspective. With my phone on do not disturb and my mind in reflective mode, I pondered. My brain was like an orange. I peeled off a layer of self-pity to reach its core of sweet optimist logic. Despite feeling behind and feeling stuck - the books I had been reading recently allowed me to shift my thinking. I have failed successfully. Failure is a human experience that allows us to learn and problem solve. Failure is the blessing that opens another door to either a new skill or a different direction. I was reminded of the Gita that told me to detach from expectation. Those whose consciousness is unified abandon all attachment to the results of action ...
